SUMMARY:UCT Big Band celebrates International Jazz Day
DESCRIPTION:Join the UCT Big Band at the Baxter Theatre on April 30th in celebration of the 15th anniversary of International Jazz Day. Under the dynamic direction of Justin Bellairs\, the band will perform a rich repertoire encompassing various jazz styles. \nAs part of this global UNESCO initiative\, the concert highlights jazz’s unique ability to foster dialogue\, freedom of expression and unity across cultures. Led internationally by UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay and jazz legend Herbie Hancock\, International Jazz Day brings together communities around the world to celebrate the art form’s heritage\, impact and ongoing influence. \nExperience the spirit of this worldwide celebration as the UCT Big Band honours jazz’s power to inspire\, connect and transform. The first 100 UCT students receive free entry (early bird)\, after which UCT student tickets will cost R50.
