Young Audiences Project – 2026

April 16 @ 6:30 pmApril 18 @ 3:45 pm

The Centre for Theatre, Dance & Performance Studies at UCT invites you to the 2026 Young Audiences Project, devised and performed by the graduating 4th year Acting class.

Using the techniques of graphic storytelling to make new theatre pieces in the comic book style of performance in the classic genres of Kung-Fu and Western. Come and see these 2D comic books worlds come to life as bodies transform into places, objects, characters and landscapes. We hope you enjoy the live action, suspense and thrill of your favourite animated comic book words in this year’s double bill:

Tracks & Traces
A town is mysteriously plagued by a lethal force that threatened its livelihood. 17-year-old, Palesa, of the Hunter Gatherers tribe embarks on a daring journey to honour the destiny of her ancestors. Through all her hope, sorrow, fear and bravery…the burning question remains – can she save her town?!

The Power of AmaKung-Fu
Can Q, a girl trained by her mother in the ways of Ama-kung fu, defeat a terrible evil that threatens the village and protect the five rings of power from falling into the wrong hands? Or will she lose everything she loves?
